ICE FISHING

We’ll approach the waterfront by car and use snowshoes while on the ice. Our guide will introduce you to winter fishing, equipment and techniques. On the tour we’ll enjoy fishing and the surrounding nature. During the tour we will also drink some warm juice and have a small snack. Capacity: 2-10. What you need to bring: Warm clothes for cold winter conditions. Remember layering – it may get warm when walking but cold when fishing.

WINTER TRAIL BIKING

Adventure on bicycle through the forests and mesmerising Lappish landscapes of the Ylläs-Pallastunturi National Park.

Winter biking is a great way to cover longer distances, yet it doesn’t compromise the direct immersion into the wild and sensing the silence of the surroundings. Fatbiking is a fun way to explore and add some thrill to the more usual walking and hiking! E-fatbikes are also available upon request. This guided fatbiking tour takes us through the best winter biking trails of the Pallas-Ylläs National Park. On the tour we’ll enjoy snowy forests and fabulous Lappish sceneries. Around halfway we’ll take a break enjoying snacks and the surrounding nature. What you need to bring: own suitable clothes for winter conditions and biking, good and warm shoes, your warmest gloves, water or other drink, a (thin) beanie or balaclava.
included:
Professional guide, fatbikes/E-fatbikes, small snack and hot drink. Note: If the weather is below -20°C, the trip cannot be organised with e-bikes, as the batteries won’t last long in those conditions. We can then either swap to bikes without motor, or reschedule the trip if all schedules allow for a change.
CANOEING

A true arctic experience! This tour takes you paddling on a calmly flowing river.

In mid-winter the river is only open (without ice) for about 250 meters. However, it can be paddled both ways. The whole package of dragging the canoes through the snowy forest, launching them into the water, paddling, a snack with hot juice, and enjoying the scenery makes the experience unique and unforgettable! On this tour you’ll have a chance to take unique and exotic photos. What you need to bring: own suitable clothes for winter conditions, good and warm shoes, extra set of underlayer and socks.

NORTHERN LIGHTS TOUR ON SNOWMOBILES

Evening snowmobile tour in the forests with a perfect view to the Northern sky.

We drive with snowmobiles to locations in the forests. Depending on the spot, we either set up a campfire outdoors or in a wilderness shelter to provide us with some warmth as well as to create cozy surroundings to chat about Northern Lights and related stories. Distance on snowmobiles is 15 – 25 km. Northern Lights are not under our command, so on cloudy nights or during low solar activity we focus more on sensing the sleeping forest, listening to the whistling wind and creaking trees – or just the pure silence. What you need to bring: warm base layers to wear under the snowmobile clothing (provided by us), a warm beanie.

SNOWSHOEING AND SKIING TRIPS

This guided tour takes you into the snowy forest. Also available as Northern Lights tours.

Compared to snowshoeing, skin-based skiing is smoother and quieter, though we cannot reach the highest tops. Either way, we’ll take you to our favorite places by the best routes in the area. On the tour you’ll hear about the local nature and animals but also about the Lappish lifestyle. This is an enjoyable tour where surrounding nature and calming atmosphere is the thing. Around halfway we’ll have a break with warm juice and a small snack. Also available is a leisurely-paced experience in the evening, when we head out of the village to spots with great views of the Northern skies and try our luck in seeing the Northern Lights. What you need to bring: your own, breathable but windproof clothes for winter conditions, skiing or hiking socks, extra beanie, extra gloves, a warm jacket for breaks.

Snowmobile TOUR TO WILDERNESS HUT

Snowmobiling, dinner and sauna experience with possibility for ice swimming.

Our wilderness hut is located by a remote lake, surrounded by snowy forest and with no road connection during winter. The tour starts with a 15km snowmobile ride to the hut. The tour follows an easy track that weaves in forest, wetlands, and hills. On our way we enjoy snowmobiling and fabulous winter views. At the hut we’ll enjoy dinner lit by candles, followed by a relaxing sauna and ice swimming experience. The hut is warmed by a fireplace and cooking is operated by a gas stove. There’s no electricity or running water. After a cozy evening we’ll head back to civilization by snowmobiles. Maybe we can even see the Northern Lights dancing across the sky! What you need to bring: warm base layers to wear under the snowmobile clothing (provided by us), a warm beanie, swimsuit, personal hygiene products

Husky safari

Dog sledding trips of different duration. Sledding with enthusiastic dogs is an unforgettable experience.

You get to try operating the sled yourself and enjoy the speed and excitement of the dogs that love nothing more than running. Before the trip, participants receive an introduction to operating the sled and dogs. Only adults are allowed to operate the sled, children can be passengers on board. After the trip there are photo opportunities with the dogs and enjoy hot juice in the hut. Sled dog rides start from 4-kilometer rides of around 45 minutes (ride time ~15 min). There are also options for longer rides: 10km version (ride time 45-60 min) and a half day 15-20km ride that is the longest.

Reindeer sleigh ride

A must-have experience for every traveler in Lapland! We start the reindeer ride behind the Ranch, and head towards the marshland and wood. Sitting comfortably in the sleigh, you can admire the winter scenery. Sometimes we go quite briskly, other days the pace is a bit more relaxed – it depends on what kind of a day the reindeer are having. After the ride, we have time to spend time with the reindeer and feed them lichen. In the hut by the open fire, hot drinks and small snacks are enjoyed while talking about the life of the reindeer.
